Heavy Equipment Operator

Description:

Heavy Equipment Operators are responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of heavy equipment used in street maintenance and utility tasks. They operate equipment like asphalt distributors, backhoes, front-end loaders, street sweepers, and more, while adhering to safety protocols and guidelines.

These operators are expected to perform work with limited supervision after receiving assignments, and may supervise other workers if required.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate heavy equipment (e.g., backhoes, front-end loaders, street sweepers).
• Perform basic maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Follow safety standards to prevent accidents and ensure safe work zones.
• Communicate with the public, supervisors, and team members regarding tasks.
• Perform duties like loading and unloading materials, cleaning equipment, and managing work zones.
• Work in varying outdoor conditions and be exposed to inclement weather, hazardous conditions, and heavy equipment.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Valid Class B CDL.
• Experience with heavy equipment (e.g., brush trucks, rubber tire loaders, street sweepers).
• Knowledge of safety standards and regulations for equipment operation.
