Description:

UK Power Networks, the largest electricity distribution company in the UK, is hiring a Pole Lorry Driver to join their Network Operations team in Colchester. This full-time, on-site role involves the physical transportation and delivery of poles, plant, and equipment to field teams, ensuring safe and efficient operations in accordance with legal transport regulations and organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely transport and deliver utility poles and related equipment to field sites

• Erect poles in areas with live LV and HV electrical conductors

• Follow Road Transport Legislation including EU driving regulations

• Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections and report any faults

• Ensure correct loading/unloading and safe vehicle operation

• Perform risk assessments and maintain safe working practices

• Work collaboratively with field teams and serve as a site support person

• Challenge unsafe practices and promote a safety-first culture

• Wear appropriate PPE and maintain professional conduct

• Support the craftspeople during operations to ensure safety and efficiency

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• HGV Class II licence (mandatory)

• Valid Substation Entry qualification

• ALLMI, IPAF, or equivalent competency for lifting equipment

• Familiarity with safety protocols such as HSS 01 080

• Ability to work independently or within a team structure

• Competence in live line working and pole erection (preferred)
