High-risk Management Team Lead

M&G plc, an international savings and investments business with over 170 years of heritage, is seeking a High-Risk Management Team Lead to head its High-Risk Management team. The company offers a broad portfolio of financial products and services across Asset Management, Life, and Wealth, working collaboratively to deliver strong financial outcomes for clients and shareholders. This role focuses on ensuring effective financial crime risk management while fostering a culture of compliance and integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

Management Responsibilities:

• Lead and oversee the High-Risk Management team to ensure efficient operational delivery.

• Delegate tasks effectively across the team to manage capacity constraints.

• Collaborate with First Line of Defence (1LoD) stakeholders to promote robust risk management practices.

• Oversee development and implementation of blocking, restrictions, and re-entry prevention processes in line with regulatory requirements.

• Design and manage frameworks for handling high-risk cases and sanctions alerts according to the Risk Decisioning Matrix.

Operational Responsibilities:

• Coordinate escalations and high-risk approvals across key jurisdictions, including the UK, Luxembourg, Asia Pacific, the United States, and South Africa.

• Liaise with Central and Regional Second Line of Defence (2LoD) for high-risk decision approvals when needed.

• Present high-risk cases at governance committees.

• Review investigation materials to support escalation and decision-making processes.

• Provide guidance to High-Risk Specialists handling complex cases and review their outcomes for closure or further escalation.

Key Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

• Extensive experience in financial crime operational team management.

• Expertise in high-risk management, escalations, and financial crime compliance.

• Strong risk-based decision-making skills.

• Deep knowledge of financial crime risks within Asset Management.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement.

• Familiarity with regulatory expectations and industry best practices in Asset Management.
