Description:

Working alongside the HR Business Partner, the HR Advisor will engage with managers and departmental colleagues to encourage a proactive approach to people management and practices that builds a culture in line with the Force’s vision and values, in addition to providing managers and departmental colleagues with the understanding and tools to effectively manage their staff, their wellbeing and workforce challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the co-ordination and consistency of people and workforce issues across portfolios, identifying trends, patterns, themes, good practice
  • Manage staff, staff association and staff network relationships, promptly responding to queries and managing expectations
  • Build strong and valuable relationships with colleagues, external suppliers (where appropriate) and other members of the People and OD function who contribute to the overall success of the force strategy and people strategy
  • Act as ambassadors to support the cultural and organisational change initiatives and role model the Vision, Values and people strategy based ethos of the Force
  • As appropriate, support the management of employee relations cases, including investigations, presentation of cases, hearings, appeals, attendance at employment tribunal
  • To provide support to the implementation of force and departmental change initiatives
  • Challenge and actively contribute to policy and process development

Essential Criteria:

  • CIPD qualified (graduate or working towards this qualification whilst in post)
  • Professionally qualified with a proven track record of knowledge, i.e. CIPD qualified to graduate level, or studying towards it, the department will support gaining this qualification whilst in post.
  • Some understanding of employment law and relevant legislation
  • Creative thinker – with the ability to see the bigger picture. Able to understand the strategic aims and objectives of the organisation
  • Excellent influencing and negotiation skills to deliver results at all levels
  • Strives for continuous improvement
  • Is innovative and delivers change
