Description:

The National Oceanography Centre (NOC) is seeking a HR Support Administrator for a 6-month fixed-term appointment based in Southampton. As a key member of the People and Skills Staff Hub team, you will act as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries, playing a vital role in the smooth functioning of HR operations within the organization.

NOC is the UK’s foremost institution in integrated coastal and deep ocean research, with a mission to solve complex marine science challenges. You’ll work in a collaborative and inclusive environment where your contributions support world-leading oceanographic research that impacts public policy, environmental stewardship, and global sustainability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date personal files and HR records.

  • Collect and input data, ensuring precision and confidentiality.

  • Update and manage spreadsheets and HR trackers.

  • Monitor and manage the Staff Hub inbox, ensuring timely responses.

  • Provide administrative assistance to the wider HR team as needed.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a HR support or administration role.

  • Confident user of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.

  • Experience working with sensitive, confidential data.

  • Effective verbal and written communication abilities.

Contract & Working Details:

  • Full-time (37 hours per week)

  • Fixed-term contract: 6 months

  • Hybrid role: up to 2 days/week remote
