Interim Technical & Regulatory Director

An exciting 12-month interim contract opportunity has opened for a Technical & Regulatory Director to join a leading global cosmetics brand based in London. This is a hybrid role, ideal for a senior operator with in-depth knowledge of the cosmetics and beauty industry, particularly within skincare, who can confidently manage both strategic oversight and hands-on project execution.

This role will lead all aspects of technical and regulatory compliance, including managing global product portfolios, overseeing new product development (NPD), and ensuring adherence to international regulations. The company is entering a critical phase of growth, with a strategic focus on the China market and a strong emphasis on sustainability, making prior experience in these areas essential.

You will report directly to the Executive team, offering senior-level counsel on risk, innovation, and global compliance matters while managing and mentoring a high-performing team of 4.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and lead the technical and regulatory compliance strategy across existing product lines and upcoming NPD.

• Act as the go-to expert on international cosmetics regulations, particularly in relation to China and emerging markets.

• Lead and mentor a team of regulatory professionals.

• Supervise clinical/user trials, claims substantiation, and product registrations.

• Provide guidance to senior stakeholders on regulatory risk, sustainability, and innovation opportunities.

• Personally manage complex, high-impact projects assigned by the Executive team.

• Represent the business in high-level discussions related to compliance and market expansion.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Extensive senior-level experience in cosmetic regulatory affairs, particularly within the beauty/skincare sector.

• Proven ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on levels.

• Deep understanding of China’s cosmetic regulatory landscape.

• A confident, credible communicator who can advise C-suite executives and cross-functional stakeholders.

• A natural team leader who can inspire, coach, and drive performance.

• Availability to start from August or September 2025.
