Description:
Aither, a leading Swiss trading house specializing in environmental commodities, is seeking a Junior Originator Consultant to join its carbon project development team. The selected candidate will contribute to delivering high-quality, transparent, and scalable climate solutions.
This role will allow you to gain exposure to origination, commercial strategy, due diligence, and portfolio development, building a foundation for a long-term career at the frontier of sustainability, finance, and technology.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the Portfolio Manager and Origination Lead in sourcing, screening, and evaluating carbon project opportunities globally (nature-based, renewable energy, and technological removals).
- Originate, lead and develop commercial discussions with a view to generate a positive P/L.
- Reach out to commercial leads and maintain good communication, ensuring prospects can become potential partners on the short to medium term both on the sourcing of projects and of potential offtakers/investors.
- Contribute to commercial analysis and deal evaluation, applying key financial and investment principles to assess project viability.
- Assist in developing and maintaining internal tools including CRM systems, databases, and AI-supported dashboards to enhance origination efficiency.
- Conduct market and policy research, producing concise research notes, sector briefs, and news updates on emerging trends, pricing, and regulation.
- Prepare presentations, proposals, and marketing materials for partners, investors, and clients.
- Collaborate on innovative deal structures leveraging blockchain, digital MRV, and tokenization where relevant.
- Support the setup of procurement and due diligence structures for new technology partnerships, including supplier assessments, workflow development, and documentation standards.
- Draft internal memoranda, client updates, and summary reports for senior management.
- Participate in calls and meetings with developers, corporate buyers, and institutional partners, supporting relationship management activities.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field. Master’s degree in similar fields is a strongly desired plus.
- Strong commercial acumen with a genuine interest in origination and deal development.
- Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a sound understanding of core financial concepts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and MS basic suite of apps (word, outlook etc…) and enthusiasm for using AI-assisted tools and automation to improve workflows.
- Strong communication skills — verbal, written, and visual — with fluent English (essential).
- Ability to write structured, high-quality reports, research briefs, and summaries.
- A creative, proactive learner with curiosity for innovative market mechanisms.
- Must be based in Europe, the UK or in a country with a compatible timezone with Europe/UK and legally authorized to work full-time (preference for UK).
- The successful candidate needs to be independent and have ability to operate as a consultant.
Desirable Additional Qualifications and Skills:
- Fluency in Spanish, and/or Chinese, and/or Japanese, and/or Korean.
- Knowledge of voluntary or compliance carbon markets and related project mechanisms (e.g., Verra, Gold Standard).
- Prior internship or academic project experience in sustainability, climate finance, or business development (not required but advantageous).
