A prominent client in the technology services sector is seeking an experienced Linux Administrator with a strong security orientation to support and maintain enterprise-level infrastructure operations. This is a long-term opportunity based in Warwick, UK, ideal for candidates residing nearby or within reasonable commuting distance. The role offers hands-on experience with security applications and key system administration tools and is well-suited to candidates looking to deepen their IT security and scripting experience.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform day-to-day Linux/Unix system administration including scripting, monitoring, patching, and performance tuning.

  • Handle security tools such as FireEye, Tanium, and Splunk to ensure infrastructure security and compliance.

  • Support 24x7 IT operations (predominantly day shifts) ensuring adherence to SLAs and operational targets.

  • Assist in managing Wintel systems with basic administration and troubleshooting.

  • Monitor IT systems for potential threats, ensuring that security protocols are followed and properly documented.

  • Maintain detailed documentation on configurations, procedures, and knowledge base articles for knowledge management.

  • Identify risk areas and propose mitigation strategies proactively.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams for incident response, problem resolution, and new project rollouts.

  • Ensure new projects are delivered in a timely manner without unauthorized changes or escalations.


Mandatory Skills & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field

  • Must be SC Cleared or SC Clearance Eligible (mandatory for this position)

  • Strong command of Linux/Unix scripting and system administration

  • Hands-on experience with IT security tools and monitoring platforms (FireEye, Tanium, Splunk)

  • Basic knowledge of Wintel systems and general IT security frameworks

  • Good understanding of core IT terminologies and protocols

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective reporting and customer interaction

  • A proactive attitude towards system health, security compliance, and customer satisfaction
