Next is looking to hire a Loss Prevention Officer to support its team in safeguarding stores across Swansea and Merthyr. This is a vital role within our Loss Prevention department, contributing directly to the protection of people, property, and company assets through a visible, professional, and preventative presence in-store.

About the Role:
As a Loss Prevention Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming retail environment for both customers and staff. You will be responsible for reducing loss through deterrence, vigilance, and collaborative security measures, helping ensure that all LP standards are maintained to the highest level.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver a uniformed presence to deter theft and suspicious activity

• Proactively support store teams in creating a safe working and shopping space

• Identify and monitor high-risk areas, conducting in-store surveillance when required

• Build strong relationships with local police and internal teams

• Assist in LP audits, surveillance duties, and support other stores as needed

• Engage in department meetings and report to the Regional LP Manager

• Demonstrate flexibility across multiple store locations and working hours (including weekends and evenings)

About You:

• Previous experience in retail security is preferred

• Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently or as part of a team

• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

• Capable of using IT systems and handling reporting tools

• Confident, approachable, and able to communicate effectively with staff, police, and customers

• Must be flexible and mobile, with the ability to travel daily to various store sites within a reasonable distance

• Must be fully available to work 5 out of 7 days, including weekends and evenings
