Maintenance Engineer

Description:

SSE Facilities Management is seeking a versatile and skilled Maintenance Engineer with an Electrical or Mechanical bias to maintain, repair, service, and install building services equipment across SSE’s corporate sites. This is a hands-on role that requires a broad trade skillset to ensure the smooth operation and upkeep of a wide variety of plant and systems. You will be based in Reading but will be required to travel between sites.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform maintenance, repairs, installations, and servicing tasks as directed by the FM Maintenance Supervisor or FM Maintenance & Technical Manager

• Carry out multi-skilled activities within the remit of Facilities Management, supporting both mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks

• Comply fully with SSE’s work practices and all relevant health and safety statutory requirements at all times

• Conduct site inductions, supervise and issue permits for third-party contractors working on SSE sites

• Participate in the out-of-hours emergency standby rota when required, providing critical response support

Candidate Requirements:

• Proven experience in commercial Facilities Management or maintenance roles, demonstrating multi-trade skills

• Hold a relevant qualification such as City & Guilds, SVQ, NVQ Level 3 or equivalent

• Able to support and contribute effectively to mechanical, electrical, and building fabric maintenance

• Sound knowledge of health and safety legislation and compliance requirements

• Experience working with a variety of plant and equipment including air handling units, air conditioning, generators, boilers, plumbing, electrical systems, UPS, and fire alarm systems

• Flexible approach to work with willingness to travel between sites

• Must hold a valid full driving licence
