Description:
Ocasa Homes is seeking a skilled Maintenance Operative to join the team on a full-time, three-month fixed-term contract, with the potential for extension to permanent employment. Reporting directly to the Facilities Manager, the role involves managing and carrying out a variety of maintenance and repair tasks across properties, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform minor plumbing repairs, including fixing dripping taps and running toilet cisterns.
Carry out painting and decorating work, from full flat repaints to minor touch-ups.
Complete general maintenance tasks such as tightening cupboard doors, fixing handles, replacing toilet seats, and changing light bulbs.
Install appliances (washing machines, dishwashers), smoke alarms, and carbon monoxide detectors.
Assemble furniture, fit shelves, hang pictures, and perform site clearance tasks.
Undertake general building and grounds maintenance as required.
Ensure adherence to Health & Safety procedures and actively support continuous improvements in safety standards.
Work collaboratively with other teams and contribute to delivering ongoing improvement action plans.
Provide excellent customer service while maintaining safe, clean, and compliant environments.
Candidate Profile / Requirements:
Prior experience in a similar maintenance or handyperson role, with a strong range of practical repair and decorating skills.
Excellent customer service skills and strong communication abilities.
Competent in IT and able to manage tasks effectively.
Full UK driving license with access to a vehicle (fuel card provided for business travel).
Ability to work independently or within a team, demonstrating flexibility, time management, and a positive approach.
Awareness of Health & Safety practices and willingness to work flexibly, including outside of regular hours when required.
