Maintenance Team Leader

Description:

This role is ideal for an experienced engineer looking to progress into leadership, or for a current Maintenance Team Leader seeking a new challenge within a stable and supportive environment.

The business has a strong track record of developing its engineering staff and creating opportunities for progression. You'll have the chance to lead from the front, influence standards, support a team of engineers and develop your management skills while remaining technically involved.

Whether you're already working as a Maintenance Team Leader or you're an engineer with some supervisory, mentoring or team-leading experience looking for a step up, this role offers the platform to develop your leadership career.

Role details

We are looking for a hands-on Maintenance Team Leader to support and coordinate a team of multi-skilled engineers across a busy operation. The successful candidate will split their time between supporting the team, coordinating maintenance activities and remaining involved in practical engineering tasks.

  • Leading and supporting a team of engineers.
  • Organising maintenance activities and prioritising workloads.
  • Ensuring planned and reactive maintenance is completed safely and efficiently.
  • Supporting fault finding and breakdown investigations.
  • Monitoring team performance and standards.
  • Liaising with operational teams to minimise downtime.
  • Supporting continuous improvement and engineering projects.

Requirements

The business is very open to candidates from a wide range of engineering backgrounds and industries. They are interested in engineers who have some leadership exposure through mentoring, coordinating work, supporting apprentices or deputising for management.

Ideally, you will have:

  • A recognised engineering qualification equivalent to a Level 3 or above (NVQ, City and Guilds, BTEC, ONC, HNC etc.)
  • Experience carrying out maintenance and fault finding within an engineering environment.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to motivate and support others.
  • Experience coordinating workloads, projects or people, either formally or informally.
  • A proactive approach and a desire to progress your leadership career.
