Description:
Psicon Ltd is seeking dedicated and experienced Paediatricians to join their Independent Clinician Network, offering flexible, on-site autism assessment services for children and adolescents aged 5–18 years in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This opportunity is ideal for professionals passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families navigating neurodiversity.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough developmental histories and autism assessments using recognised tools and age-appropriate methods.
Observe children during sessions and ensure sensitive, compassionate communication with both children and their families.
Review ADOS reports, developmental histories, and collateral data from schools and homes within the assessment session.
Formulate diagnoses, offer immediate verbal feedback, and provide detailed recommendations and support resources.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (MDT) where additional information is needed; offer follow-up sessions if necessary.
Deliver high-quality diagnostic reports (within 48 hours), aligned with DSM-5 criteria; formatting and QA support is provided.
Initiate onward referrals as clinically necessary in line with local NHS or ICB protocols.
Clinic Structure & Work Model:
Up to 4 assessments per day, between 9am and 5pm.
Flexible scheduling, including weekend availability.
Self-employed, outside IR35 structure with competitive per-assessment compensation.
Option to pursue free CPD training in neurodevelopmental assessments (e.g., ADHD).
Candidate Requirements:
GMC-registered doctor with a valid license to practice in the UK.
CCT in Paediatrics (preferred but not essential).
Demonstrated expertise in ASD assessments for children and adolescents.
Ability and willingness to travel for in-person assessments in Cheltenham.
Up-to-date with revalidation and appraisal requirements.
