Principal Environmental Consultant

Description:

Ricardo plc is seeking a Principal Environmental Consultant with expertise in water quality and management to join their expanding Water & Environment Team. The role involves leading multi-disciplinary water and environmental projects, providing technical delivery and leadership, and supporting business growth through client relationship management and new work development. The position offers hybrid working across multiple UK locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead specialist project delivery and technical elements within multi-disciplinary projects

• Act as technical lead in environmental disciplines such as hydrology, hydro-ecology, freshwater catchment science

• Contribute to proposal development and winning new work

• Oversee quality of service provision while balancing client needs and environmental regulations

• Manage resources, workload, and potentially staff depending on business needs

• Build and maintain client and stakeholder relationships

• Develop and own segments of Ricardo’s water and environmental service offering

Key Skills and Experience:

• Relevant environmental consultancy experience supporting the UK water sector

• Excellent understanding of the UK water industry and its regulation

• Strong technical management and project leadership skills

• Experience in business development and proposal preparation

• People management or technical development experience desirable

• Environmentally related degree, post-graduate qualification advantageous

• Clean full UK driving licence preferable

• Excellent organisational, communication, presentation, and multi-stakeholder management skills

• Client-facing, proactive, collaborative, and able to manage significant operational pressures
