Optimus plus are now looking for a Principal / Senior Structural Engineer / Analyst to join our team in Aberdeen on a full-time, long-term contract basis. This role can be based in our Aberdeen or Glasgow office on a flexible hybrid working model.

Key Duties
- Perform structural analysis of jackets, topsides, and floating assets
- Support offshore operations, structural assurance, major projects, life extension, and decommissioning activities
- Inplace analysis and code compliance assessments
- Fatigue and dynamic analysis
- Pushover, redundancy and boat impact analysis (advantageous but a mandatory requirement)
- Support wider group activities of Structural Integrity Management, Weight Control, and Decommissioning.
About You
Qualifications:
- Related Engineering Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Naval Architecture degree (B.Eng/M.Sc/P.hD)
- Chartered Engineer, or actively working towards chartership (preferred)
Experience / competence:
- High levels of proficiency in SESAM GeniE analysis packages
- Experience in other industry standard analysis packages - StaadPro, USFOS, ABAQUS and ANSYS (preferred)
- Experience in Structural Analysis techniques
- Good understanding of structural linear and non-linear behaviour
- Good understanding of civil and structural drawing skills
- Knowledge of wave theory, wave kinematics, and Morison equation.
- Significant, demonstrable experience in detailed design engineering and engineering checking
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant oil & gas industry codes and standards (e.g., ISO, API, DNV, etc.)
- Detailed understanding of all engineering disciplines
- Understands the application of Autodesk Design products
- Competent in the use of MS Office applications
- Excellent written and spoken English
