Description:

Balfour Beatty, a renowned leader in delivering complex infrastructure projects, is currently hiring two experienced Buyers to join its Major Projects Procurement Team, working on the high-profile Rolls Royce project based in Derby. This full-time hybrid role offers an excellent opportunity for procurement professionals to contribute to some of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure developments.

The role involves conducting tenders, sourcing suppliers, analysing procurement data, ensuring compliance with internal procedures, and working closely with stakeholders across the business. The successful candidates will be responsible for procuring complex material and subcontract packages, developing procurement strategies, managing procurement schedules, and contributing to cost-saving initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fulfil material requisitions and procurement activities within assigned packages of work.

  • Ensure compliance with internal procurement procedures and track internal spend.

  • Source suppliers, obtain quotations, and manage tender processes.

  • Assist in the procurement of subcontract packages in support of the Senior Buyer.

  • Create and maintain Supply Chain Strategies and Procurement Schedules.

  • Liaise with suppliers for performance monitoring and relationship management.

  • Negotiate cost savings and report added value activities.

  • Build strong stakeholder relationships and contribute to strategic procurement delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in procurement, ideally within construction or engineering environments.

  • Demonstrated negotiation, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities.

  • Knowledge of subcontract procurement is desirable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Eligibility to obtain security clearance including BPSS and SC.
