Real Estate Knowledge Lawyer

Description:

We are looking for a senior Real Estate lawyer to take on a strategic and influential role as a Knowledge Lawyer. This role will lead the transformation of the firm’s Real Estate knowledge function, shaping how legal knowledge is captured, shared, and applied across the practice.

The successful candidate will formalise and maintain a comprehensive suite of Real Estate precedents, develop best practice guidance, and support lawyers with high-quality resources that enhance consistency, efficiency, and client service. They will also identify opportunities to improve service delivery, including through the use of technology.

This is a leadership position combining deep legal expertise with a passion for collaboration, continuous improvement, and knowledge-sharing.

The role requires a tech-savvy approach, leveraging emerging Real Estate AI and legal technology tools to drive innovation and encourage fee earners to adopt smarter ways of working.

  • Create, formalise, and maintain a structured bank of Real Estate precedents, including leases, sale contracts, development agreements, licences, and ancillary documentation.

  • Generate and maintain high-quality know-how content, including guidance notes, drafting tips, checklists, and practice manuals.
  • Support the implementation of the firm’s governance processes for precedent creation, review, and updates, and ensure that these are enforced within the Real Estate practice.

  • Build strong relationships with Real Estate partners, fee earners, and business services teams, facilitating collaboration across offices and sub-teams.
  • Collaborate with the Knowledge Management team to align Real Estate knowledge initiatives with firm-wide strategy.
  • Act as a visible and accessible point of contact for knowledge-related queries.
  • Represent the Real Estate team in firm-wide knowledge and innovation forums.

  • Identify opportunities to improve delivery of Real Estate legal services through better use of precedents, process improvements, and technology - including recommending new AI-driven tools and platforms to the team.
  • Support development of automated versions of key Real Estate documents where appropriate.
  • Act as an iManage Champion, ensuring best practices for document and workspace management, and consistency of house style across Real Estate.

Practice Support & Legal Excellence

  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments affecting Real Estate practice and ensure timely updates to precedents and guidance materials.
  • Deliver internal training sessions, workshops, and briefings to support lawyers’ development.
  • Promote best practice in drafting, negotiation, and client service.
