Description:
Historic England, the public body responsible for protecting and promoting England’s historic environment, is seeking a Regional Skills Senior Advisor to join their team. This is an exceptional opportunity to influence regional heritage skills agendas by working in collaboration with combined and strategic authorities across the Midlands region. The role focuses on the development and implementation of practical strategies that support skills in the heritage sector — particularly those needed to understand, repair, adapt, and manage historic environments.
In light of devolution and the growing importance of regional skills control, the successful candidate will be instrumental in building meaningful partnerships, driving evidence-based actions, and helping shape policies that benefit heritage construction and preservation.
The ideal candidate will be a confident collaborator with a deep understanding of the UK skills policy and experience either in local governance or the heritage/retrofit sectors. This role requires someone capable of gathering and utilizing data to influence stakeholders and generate results through coordinated efforts.
The position is based in Birmingham with hybrid working arrangements and some travel as required. Historic England offers a comprehensive benefits package including:
Generous 28 days of annual leave
