Research Fellow

 

Description:

The University of Warwick is seeking a highly motivated Research Fellow to contribute to a research project funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR), focusing on annual health checks for children and young people with learning disabilities aged 14–17. The project aims to:

  • Understand the barriers behind low uptake of annual health checks.

  • Co-design an intervention to increase uptake rates.

  • Evaluate the feasibility and effectiveness of the intervention.

The successful candidate will take a lead role in:

  • Participant recruitment and engagement.

  • Quantitative data collection, management, and advanced statistical analysis of large datasets (including CPRD and linked data).

  • Coordinating and conducting co-design workshops and intervention development processes.

  • Preparing detailed research reports, manuscripts, and dissemination materials for publication.

  • Liaising with clinical and academic teams to ensure smooth project implementation.

You will also be expected to contribute to the broader academic mission of Warwick Medical School, which is a leader in graduate-entry medicine and offers a diverse range of postgraduate and research programmes.


Qualifications & Skills Required

  • PhD (or near completion) in Psychology, Health Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • Practical experience in intervention development, implementation, and evaluation.

  • Strong statistical analysis skills for large quantitative datasets.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with proven experience in disseminating research findings.

  • Understanding of the needs of children with intellectual disabilities, their carers, and associated professionals.

If your PhD is pending, you will initially be appointed at Research Assistant level (£34,610 per annum) and promoted upon PhD confirmation.
