Description:
The Department of Physics at the University of Warwick seeks a motivated Research Physicist Programmer to join the Elementary Particle Physics (EPP) Group, working on the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment in the Neutrino Physics Group. Supported by STFC and UKRI, this role is initially for 18 months with the possibility of continuation depending on new project funding. The post is available immediately with a current funding end date of 31 January 2027.
Key Responsibilities:
Develop and test online monitoring and control systems for the Hyper-Kamiokande experiment.
Support installation and integration of the data acquisition system in Hyper-Kamiokande on schedule.
Work closely with Dr Ben Richards and the research group.
Contribute to the development of data acquisition systems, slow control, and web monitoring front-end and back-end.
Collaborate with the team during installation and commissioning, including travel to Japan.
Requirements / About You:
Strong communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience in back-end and front-end web development, HTML, JavaScript, C++.
Experience in hardware/software systems testing and benchmarking.
Experience building and operating DAQ/control systems and networking is beneficial.
Flexible for travel and meetings outside normal working hours.

The Elementary Particle Physics group is involved in ATLAS, LHCb, T2K, DUNE, and Hyper-K experiments, with strong expertise in detector development, calibration, and operation of DAQ, monitoring, and control systems. The department has over 200 academic, research, technical, and professional services staff and over 1,000 students.
