Reservoir Regulation Team Member

 

Description:

The Environment Agency is seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join its Reservoir Regulation team as part of the Compliance and Monitoring team. This role focuses on supporting the Agency’s regulatory responsibilities under the Reservoirs Act 1975, ensuring the safe operation and management of dams across England.

As a Reservoir Regulation Team Member, you will monitor compliance for over 2,140 reservoirs, manage day-to-day correspondence, record and maintain accurate documentation, encourage compliance when reports or certificates are missing, and act as the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers. You will provide information and advice on the requirements of the Act and support the wider Environmental Assessment and Reservoir Regulation department within the Flood & Coastal Risk Management Directorate.

The role is part of a nationally dispersed team of over 25 highly skilled professionals. Some travel and overnight stays may be required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage day-to-day correspondence regarding reservoir compliance

  • Record incoming documentation accurately in the database

  • Encourage compliance when reports or certificates are not received

  • Act as the first point of contact for reservoir owners and panel engineers

  • Provide guidance on the requirements of the Reservoirs Act 1975

  • Participate in incident response duties as required

  • Support flexible and inclusive working practices
