Scaffolding Coordination Lead

 

Description:

Balfour Beatty, a global leader in infrastructure and construction, is seeking an experienced Scaffolding Coordination Lead to join its team on the groundbreaking Net Zero Teesside project in Redcar, England. This project, developed in partnership with BP and other consortium members, will deliver the UK’s first fully integrated gas-fired power station with carbon capture and storage — a central initiative in achieving the UK’s decarbonisation goals.

This is an exciting opportunity for a scaffolding professional to lead, manage, and coordinate all scaffolding operations for one of the most ambitious sustainability projects in the world.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead with a strong commitment to Health, Safety, and Wellbeing (HSW), ensuring all scaffolding operations meet strict safety standards.

  • Prepare and manage scaffolding work packs, including requirements, locations, and estimates.

  • Interface with planning engineers to schedule, monitor, and close out scaffold-related activities.

  • Ensure scaffolding scopes are delivered within time, budget, and contractual requirements.

  • Act as principal contractor for coordination of all scaffolding equipment and operations onsite.

  • Conduct inspections, approve scaffold designs, and ensure suitability for intended use.

  • Manage scaffold erection, periodic examinations, modifications, and dismantling.

  • Supervise contractors, drive accountability, and ensure productivity and safety compliance.

  • Conduct constructability reviews, cost reviews, and ensure value-for-money delivery.

  • Provide regular reporting on scaffolding activities, progress, and project impact.

  • Influence and mentor subcontractors to meet high-quality and safety requirements.

Candidate Profile:

  • Proven leadership in scaffolding coordination within large-scale industrial or infrastructure projects.

  • Strong knowledge of HSW compliance, RAMS, and scaffolding safety systems.

  • Ability to manage multiple contractors and coordinate across project teams.

  • Strong communication skills with internal, client, and subcontractor teams.

  • Skilled in project reporting, constructability reviews, and contractor oversight.

  • Experienced in scaffolding design, inspection, and operational planning.
