Senior Acoustics Consultant

Description:

AECOM is seeking a Senior Acoustics Consultant to join its Environment team in the UK. This role involves leading and delivering a broad range of acoustics projects focused on sound, noise, and vibration (SNV), from small to large multidisciplinary projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead acoustic input on projects, including predictions, assessments, and report writing.

• Manage relationships with internal and external clients, and provide technical advice on acoustics.

• Oversee and technically review noise modeling using software like CadnaA, SoundPLAN, CATT, Insul, EASE, SketchUp, etc.

• Participate in Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA) related to SNV.

• Undertake site measurements, testing, data analysis, and prepare technical reports.

• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including EIA, transportation, M&E engineers, and architects.

• Mentor and develop junior staff, including possible line management duties.

• Identify opportunities to cross-sell services and contribute to business growth.

• Occasionally travel for site visits and meetings across the UK and possibly overseas.

Recent clients include: HS2, Transport for London, NEOM, Defra, Battersea Power Station, Houses of Parliament, BBC, and more.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in acoustics or related technical disciplines (Physics, Maths, Engineering).

• Postgraduate qualification preferred (e.g., Masters).

• Corporate membership of the Institute of Acoustics (MIOA/FIOA).

• Chartered status or evidence of working towards it is desirable.

• Proven experience with acoustic modeling software (CadnaA, SoundPLAN, etc.).

• Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.

• Ability to manage technical and financial aspects of projects.

• Innovative and willing to utilize latest technologies.

• Ability to travel and work on site as required.
