Senior Manager

Description:

Convatec is seeking a Senior Manager for External Research and Development Engineering. This role involves leading outsourcing activities for customer, remediation, or change projects and managing internal development projects. The Senior Manager will work closely with the NPDL to ensure projects are aligned with goals and stakeholders. The role also involves leading a team of technical resources and managing relationships with external partners.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage external collaboration, including contractual relationships and project management.

• Oversee technical progress and make decisions for allocated projects, acting as the lead engineer.

• Manage outsourcing pipeline requests and identify suitable external partners.

• Ensure all technical aspects of projects meet quality targets and deadlines.

• Handle design exploration and improvements.

• Work with cross-functional teams to optimize designs for manufacturability and conduct prototype trials.

• Manage direct reports and ensure team collaboration.

• Provide input into design controls and documentation development.

Skills & Experience:

• Experience managing technical teams in a regulated industry.

• Proven ability to collaborate with external partners for R&D projects.

• Strong understanding of ISO 13485 and design controls.

• Lead engineering experience, particularly for class II+ products.

• Knowledge of mechanical engineering disciplines such as tolerance analysis, CAD drawings, and design verification.

• Proven decision-making abilities in technical environments.

• Excellent communication skills in English (both written and verbal).

Qualifications/Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Science or Engineering (or equivalent).

• Experience in the medical device industry or a regulated industry with a focus on delivery excellence.

• Proven track record of managing technical teams and outsourcing projects.

Team:
The role involves managing a team of 1-7 direct reports over time.

Travel Requirements:
Up to 10% international travel.

English (required), additional languages are welcomed.
