Senior Project Manager

As a Senior Project Manager – Green Fuels, you will take a leading role in the successful delivery of large-scale energy and fuel projects across the UK and internationally. You will work across multiple disciplines, engaging directly with clients, EPC contractors, subconsultants, and internal experts to ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest safety and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery
 

  • Lead and coordinate projects from early conceptual studies through to full EPC construction.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary teams to successfully deliver projects within budget, quality, and schedule constraints.
  • Oversee contract administration and ensure compliance with regulatory and industry standards.
     

Client & Stakeholder Engagement
 

  • Work closely with developers, clients, and industry partners to secure and deliver projects, building rapport and acting as an ambassador for NIRAS.
  • Establish and maintain a strong network of subconsultants and suppliers to enhance project capabilities.
  • Support bidding activities and proposal development to win new projects.
     

Sector Leadership & Technical Input
 

  • Provide expert project leadership in green fuels, hydrogen, carbon capture, oil & gas refining, and large-scale power plant projects.
  • Work across PtX (Power-to-X) and fuel technologies, ensuring projects align with sustainability goals.
  • Ensure that safety is a priority, embedding best practices and compliance into all project phases.
     

About You

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a proven track record in delivering energy, refining, or alternative fuel projects. The ideal candidate will have:

Qualifications & Expertise:
 

  • Degree in Engineering (Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or similar) or relevant project management qualification.
  • 10+ years of experience in project management within energy, refining, petrochemical, or large-scale infrastructure sectors.
  • Experience managing complex fuel production, hydrogen, or large-scale industrial projects (EPC or multi-disciplinary engineering).
     

Skills & Experience:
 

  • Strong understanding of fuel production technologies, including hydrogen refining, carbon capture, and synthetic fuel processes.
  • Experience working with EPC contractors and delivering full EPC projects.
  • Ability to “speak the lingo” and communicate effectively with engineers, subject matter specialists, contractors, and clients.
  • Strong financial and commercial acumen to manage project budgets, contracts, and procurement.
  • Experience delivering projects from £100,000 to £30m.
