Position in Selby District is at the ‘Heart of Yorkshire’, complete with bustling market towns, charming villages, stunning medieval architecture and beautiful countryside. Located at the centre, of historic Yorkshire, it has been witness to monumental moments of history that have all left their mark and influenced its unique character.

The historic town of Selby is one of Yorkshire's hidden gems with its huge and truly breath- taking mediaeval Abbey, with a crumbling 15th century gatehouse. Selby is a market town and civil parish just 14 miles south of York on the River Ouse. It is well connected to both the A1 and the A19 providing easy access to many surrounding areas. Easy commute from York and affordable housing as well as great links via trains to all local major cities like Leeds, Doncaster and Hull.

The location of Ryedale is perfectly placed between the historic city of York and Yorkshire’s spectacular Heritage Coast, Ryedale enjoys some of the most spectacular and diverse scenery in England.

The dramatic landscape of the North York Moors National Park is a striking contrast to the tranquil, gently rolling hills of the Yorkshire Wolds and the patchwork of farmland in the Vale of Pickering and the Vale of York. The picturesque villages of Ryedale are one of its best assets, including Thornton-le-Dale and Hutton-le-Hole, however the larger towns of Malton and Pickering offer vibrant and historic places to live and work. The East Coast can be reached easily by car, bus or train, so you can be walking along Scarborough Pier in no time at all. The hustle and bustle of city life isn’t far away either, with York accessible within 30 minutes and Leeds only an hour away.

Our Social Work roles present great opportunities for those who are looking for diversity in their work. We can offer opportunities supporting people requiring mental capacity assessment, care act assessment, undertaking safeguarding adults enquiries, supporting in a wide range of settings, community, supported living, extra care housing, hospitals, care homes, working with adults who are 18 plus and also with transitional cases. Collaborative partnerships will be key to the role. You will work closely with various teams and agencies, including the NHS, our stronger communities and prevention teams and the voluntary and independent sector, promoting health and wellbeing, and preventing, reducing and delaying need.
