Technical Advisor

Description:

Forte Renewables, a global leader in renewable energy consulting, is seeking a Senior Solar Project Engineer to support its growing operations across Ireland and the UK. With a strong track record of delivering complex solar and renewable energy projects across 30 countries and five continents, Forte offers a dynamic environment for technically skilled professionals.

In this hybrid role, the selected candidate will act as Technical Advisor and Owner’s Engineer, playing a pivotal part in managing technical due diligence, reviewing engineering designs, inspecting sites, supervising construction progress, and ensuring compliance with local regulations and international best practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Advisor (Desk-based):

• Review technical documents, EPC/O&M contracts, and detailed engineering designs

• Prepare clear technical reports, risk assessments, and executive summaries

• Evaluate single-line diagrams, string layouts, and grid compliance documentation

• Use simulation/design tools (PVsyst, PVcase, etc.) to perform technical assessments

• Support conceptual and detailed PV plant design and feasibility analysis

Owner’s Engineer (Site-based):

• Lead and supervise EPC contractors and ensure adherence to technical specs and schedules

• Conduct regular quality and HSE inspections and report findings

• Track progress, risks, and health & safety issues via monthly reporting

• Liaise with stakeholders including landowners, grid operators, and authorities

• Oversee commissioning, warranty testing, and handover documentation

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field

• At least 5 years of relevant experience in solar project engineering

• Proficiency with international and local standards governing solar plant design and construction

• Strong communication and stakeholder coordination skills

• Fluent in English; German is an asset

• PMP or other engineering certifications are a plus

• Ability to travel frequently across the UK and Ireland
