Technology Marketing Specialist

 

Description:


This role is intended for a growing product marketing professional who works closely with Product Management, Technology, Engineering, and Commercial teams to translate technical capabilities into market-ready value propositions. The role also plays an important supporting function in competitor intelligence and benchmarking, monitoring how competitors' position, message, and market comparable offerings to help Baker Hughes sharpen differentiation and measure its marketing effectiveness.

The role operates within the Commercial & Technology Marketing (CTM) Center of Experience (CoE), part of the Brand, Marketing and External Communications function, and follows disciplined technology marketing practices.

Strategic Objectives

The Technology Marketing Specialist supports the organization by:

 

  • Enabling consistent, differentiated product and technology positioning across priority portfolios.
  • Supporting successful product commercialization and go‑to‑market execution.
  • Contributing insight‑driven marketing improvement through competitor and market analysis.
  • Building strong foundational capability in product and technology marketing practices.

     

Role Scope & Contribution

This role supports execution of technology marketing campaigns and programs. Under the direction of the Senior Manager, Technology Marketing, the Technology Marketing Specialist contributes to:

 

  • Development and maintenance of product messaging and value propositions, as well as product marketing assets and product content marketing.
  • Execution of launches, refreshes, and commercial enablement activities.
  • Ongoing competitive and market intelligence to inform positioning and differentiation.
  • The role ensures marketing outputs are accurate, customer‑focused, competitive, and aligned with Baker Hughes brand and governance standards.

     

Key Responsibilities

Technology Marketing Execution

 

  • Support the development of product positioning, messaging frameworks, and value propositions.
  • Translate technical features and capabilities into customer‑oriented benefits and outcomes.
  • Contribute to go‑to‑market activities including product launches, updates, and lifecycle milestones.
  • Develop marketing and enablement assets such as product briefs, presentations, sales tools, and digital channel content.

     

Competitive Intelligence & Benchmarking

 

  • Monitor competitor marketing activity including positioning, messaging, launches, campaigns, and digital channels.
  • Support structured competitor benchmarking to compare Baker Hughes’ messaging, claims, and market presence against key competitors.
  • Document insights on differentiation opportunities, gaps, and emerging competitor best practices.
  • Provide inputs to senior marketing leaders to support refinement of product positioning and messaging.

     

Cross‑Functional Collaboration

 

  • Work with Product Management, Technology, Engineering, and Commercial teams to ensure accuracy and alignment.
  • Support Business Segment and Regional Marketing Communications teams as well as Sales and Commercial teams with product- and competitor-informed enablement materials.
  • Coordinate with broader Brand, Marketing and External Communications team, as well as Internal Communications team to ensure consistent activation across channels and audiences.

     

Measurement & Continuous Improvement

 

  • Support basic tracking of product marketing performance and engagement metrics.
  • Incorporate market feedback and competitive insights to improve messaging clarity and asset effectiveness.
  • Continuously develop skills in product marketing, competitive analysis, and data‑driven marketing.

To be successfull in this role, you will have:

 

  • Typically 4–6+ years of experience in product marketing, technology marketing, B2B marketing, or a related field.
  • Experience working with technical, industrial, or B2B technology products or services.
  • Exposure to competitor analysis, market research, or benchmarking activities.
  • Experience working in matrixed or cross‑functional organizations.
