GTS Group Ltd is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Temporary Works Design Engineer to join their expanding team. This role is integral to the planning, design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects, primarily within the rail and infrastructure sectors. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in delivering robust engineering solutions from concept to final implementation while ensuring compliance with industry standards and client requirements.
As a Temporary Works Engineer, you will be responsible for creating and managing preliminary and detailed designs, preparing technical drawings, specifications, and reports to an exceptional standard. You will work directly with clients and contractors, ensuring seamless communication and the delivery of practical and safe solutions. This position offers significant opportunities for professional development, including progression toward Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status, and the chance to mentor and support junior engineers.
Key responsibilities include structural analysis, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, attending site visits and inspections, managing project budgets and timelines, and supporting fee/tender proposals to win new business.
Develop and deliver preliminary and detailed designs for a range of civil and infrastructure projects.
Prepare high-quality technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
Conduct structural analysis ensuring designs meet all industry standards and safety regulations.
Participate in tender and fee proposal development to secure new projects.
Coordinate closely with clients, contractors, and project teams for successful project delivery.
Undertake site visits and inspections to monitor and ensure practical, safe solutions are implemented.
Manage project schedules, budgets, and stakeholder communications effectively.
Provide mentorship and guidance to graduate and junior engineers.
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree (BEng/MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering (ICE or IStructE accredited).
A minimum of 2 years’ relevant experience in temporary works or civil engineering design.
Proficiency in design and analysis tools (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation advantageous).
Commitment to achieving Incorporated or Chartered Engineer status.
Excellent communication skills with a collaborative and adaptable work style.
Strong attention to detail and proactive problem-solving approach.
PTS certification and a full driving license are considered advantageous.
Competitive salary between £45,000 – £60,000 per annum (£3750 – £5000 per month) based on experience.
