Translation Project Manager

Intonation is a full service LSP based in Fareham, Hampshire, with a concentration mostly on translation (main areas of technical, legal and financial) and interpreting. Intonation is part of the Intereurope Group, a group of companies including City Legal Translations (a legal and financial specialised LSP), InterRegs (a translator and publisher of regulations for the automotive industry), ICG (a design agency based in Warton, near Preston) and LSI (Language Studies International, a language school, with offices worldwide). The Intereurope Group’s parent company Ridgmount Holdings was listed amongst the top 10 UK LSPs by size in 2017 by the Association of Translation Companies.

An award winning company in its own right, Intonation has been in operation for 40 years. With significant growth in the last 10 years, the company was named the fastest growing UK LSP in 2016 and currently employs c.22 members of staff at its offices in Fareham and remotely.

Position

Due to company expansion, Intonation is looking for a Project Manager working remotely within our award winning project management team, the winners of the ATC's project management team of the year 2024. The role is an excellent way to get into the translation industry and provides an opportunity to build contacts and gain insider knowledge of a translation company and its practices.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Client liaison, from first contact through to return of work
• Quality checking of multiple languages from and into English (training given)
• Formatting of documents in multiple languages and file formats (training given)
• Quotation production and job pricing
• Monitoring of project margins to identify areas for improvement; driving forward margins through translator selection/ pushing forward use of machine translation post-editing.
• Translator/interpreter liaison and subsequent selection, according to job requirements, as well as fielding of queries during projects from both sides.
• Occasional face to face client contact to support Sales department, for project management or after sales service
• Administration tasks (including filing, data entry)
• Project management of both every day jobs and larger contracts
• Dealing with problems/complaints
• CAT-tool management

Requirements

• Foreign Language skills – degree standard
• Excellent English (Mother Tongue standard)
• Good communication skills- written/in person and via telephone
• Sound knowledge of MS-Word
• Team player
• Ability to work under pressure and to use effective time management to meet multiple deadlines.
• Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and work on own initiative
• Good negotiation skills
• Friendly, cheerful, outgoing personality
• Good time management and time keeping

Advantageous

• Translation qualifications
• Good working knowledge of CAT-tools
• Good working knowledge of MS packages (Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook)
• Knowledge of XTRF software
