This is a high-profile, strategic leadership role within a nationally recognised practice that has built a strong reputation for delivering high-quality advisory and compliance services across the UK.

As part of the firm’s ongoing growth and diversification strategy, the incoming VAT Partner will take ownership of developing and driving the VAT service line, working closely with fellow partners and senior leadership. You will play a pivotal role in shaping the VAT practice’s direction, fostering client relationships, and building a high-performing advisory team.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic leadership for the VAT practice in the Midlands and North, aligning with the firm’s overall business objectives.

• Lead and develop a growing team of VAT professionals, ensuring high standards of technical excellence and client service.

• Oversee the delivery of complex VAT advisory projects across diverse industry sectors.

• Offer expert guidance on VAT matters including compliance, structuring, risk management, and planning.

• Drive business development initiatives to expand the VAT client portfolio, both through new business acquisition and the enhancement of existing relationships.

• Work collaboratively with other partners and service lines to deliver integrated tax solutions and strengthen the firm’s market presence.

• Identify emerging trends, regulatory changes, and business opportunities within the VAT domain to position the firm as a thought leader.

• Engage in networking, marketing, and public-speaking activities to promote the firm’s VAT expertise.

• Contribute strategically to firm-wide initiatives, operational improvements, and overall business growth.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Proven track record in VAT advisory and leadership, ideally gained within a top-tier accountancy or consulting firm.

• Strong commercial acumen with a demonstrated ability to win new business and build long-term client relationships.

• Deep technical expertise in UK and international VAT legislation and practice.

• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

• Strategic thinker with a collaborative leadership style and an entrepreneurial approach.

• Professional qualification such as CTA (Chartered Tax Adviser), ACA, or equivalent preferred.

• Experience in specialist areas such as Financial Services, Real Estate, or Public Sector VAT will be an advantage.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Salary: £150000 per year (approx. £12500 per month)

• Work Type: Full-time, On-site (Birmingham office)
