Voltage Technician

Description:

UK Power Networks, one of the country’s leading electricity distributors, is currently hiring a Voltage Technician to be based in Colchester. This full-time, permanent role is responsible for investigating voltage-related complaints, conducting EMF surveys, and supporting the planning and delivery of minor network-related projects.

Key Responsibilities:

• Investigate voltage complaints to assess whether supply is within statutory limits

• Install, download, and interpret results from voltage recording equipment

• Conduct EMF surveys and explain findings to customers

• Make and keep appointments as per Electricity Guaranteed Standards (EGS 5 & 8)

• Recommend and assist in executing appropriate network rectification measures

• Collaborate with Field Engineers and Network Planners to ensure timely issue resolution

• Ensure accurate reporting in compliance with EGS and Electricity Internal Standards (EIS)

• Assist in general site surveys and pre-work assessments

• Communicate with customers throughout the investigation process

Required Qualifications & Skills:

• City & Guilds 2322 certification

• Authorization to switch and link on the LV (Low Voltage) network

• Understanding of electricity distribution networks

• Strong ability to interpret electrical data and graphs

• Competence with mobile and desktop technologies

• Organized and capable of independently managing field tasks

• ONC qualification (desirable)
