Description:

Navis Consulting is seeking a Marine Commissioning & Aftersales Technician for a permanent on-site position in Southampton, responsible for delivering high-quality commissioning and aftersales support for new vessels across the UK and Europe. This is a hands-on and varied role ideal for someone with strong diagnostics ability, attention to detail, and a passion for both power and sailboats.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commissioning: Manage the complete commissioning of new boats in the UK and Europe, ensuring top-tier workmanship and customer satisfaction.

  • Arrival Checks: Conduct thorough inspections upon arrival, unwrap vessels, compare against factory specifications, install loose equipment, and document any discrepancies or defects.

  • Systems Testing: Test all onboard systems including electrical, plumbing, mechanical, navigation systems, engines, and generators for proper operation.

  • Contractor Oversight: Supervise onboard contractors to ensure adherence to high standards.

  • Defect Reporting: Document technical issues and progress with photographic evidence via the company's reporting app.

  • Sea Trials: Perform comprehensive sea trials to evaluate the functionality of systems and sails under real conditions.

  • Client Handover: Conduct detailed system demonstrations, sea trials, and complete all necessary handover documentation with clients.

  • Post-Delivery Support: Offer refresher training and boat handling to owners and crew.

  • Warranty Work: Perform diagnostics and repairs throughout the UK and Europe, providing technical documentation to support warranty claims.

  • Annual Inspections: Conduct yearly inspections as required by factory warranty protocols.

  • Departmental Duties: Maintain good housekeeping in shared facilities such as workshops and storage areas, while assisting in general operations.

  • Health & Safety: Execute all tasks in line with the company’s Health and Safety policies.

Person Specification:

  • Strong, hands-on experience in the leisure marine industry is essential.

  • Proficient in boat handling, both power and sail – RYA qualifications are advantageous.

  • Boat building skills and qualifications are a plus.

  • In-depth knowledge of modern boat systems, especially electrical diagnostics and digital switching.

  • Self-motivated with strong initiative and excellent communication skills.

  • Must hold a valid UK driver’s license.
