As a Business Development Manager (BDM) within the secured car finance sector in the UK, this role is responsible for identifying and driving growth through new business opportunities, establishing strategic partnerships with motor dealers, and expanding market presence. The role focuses on nurturing relationships, achieving sales targets, and staying up to date with automotive market trends.

Using industry knowledge and strong networking skills, the BDM plays a key role in driving profitable revenue growth and maintaining a competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities
 

  • Dealer Relationship & Account Management
  • Build and maintain strong, long‑term client relationships, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain regular communication with dealers to support productive partnerships and accurate audit trails.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key industry stakeholders, dealerships, and other relevant partners.
  • Understand client requirements and tailor finance solutions to meet individual needs.
  • Work collaboratively with dealers to understand their business objectives and provide ongoing support.
  • Support risk management and complaint resolution, confidently de‑escalating tensions while maintaining strong, long‑term relationships and handling difficult conversations with fairness and professionalism.
     

Sales Strategy and Execution
 

  • Develop and deliver sales strategies to achieve revenue targets and increase market penetration.
  • Identify new business opportunities, partnerships, and collaborations within the secured car finance sector, building a strong pipeline.
  • Present finance solutions to prospective partners, clearly demonstrating value and addressing business needs.
  • Agree commercial terms, pricing, and contractual agreements to ensure mutually beneficial partnerships.
     

Market Research and Analysis
 

  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitor activity.
  • Analyse market data and customer feedback to improve and refine product offerings.
  • Support the dealer network with data‑driven insights to strengthen their sales strategies.
     

Collaboration and Teamwork
 

  • Work closely with the Key Account Manager to maximise opportunities and improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including marketing, underwriting, and operations, to deliver seamless customer experiences.
  • Share market feedback internally to influence product and service development.
     

Reporting and Forecasting
 

  • Maintain accurate records of sales activity, customer interactions, and market intelligence.
  • Produce regular reports on sales performance, market trends, and competitor activity.
  • Carry out regular dealer reviews and performance analysis based on current and forecasted results.
     

Compliance and Regulatory Awareness
 

  • Remain up to date with industry regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring all activity meets legal and regulatory standards.
  • Maintain awareness of developments relating to the electrification of the UK car parc.
  • Support the dealer network with guidance on regulatory changes and updates.
