Barnes Construction, the largest division of The Barnes Group Limited, is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to join their team in Ipswich. Established in 1978, Barnes Construction has earned a strong reputation as a client-focused building contractor, delivering projects across the UK for blue-chip and repeat clients.

The Contracts Manager will serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, leading delivery teams, maintaining strong client relationships, and ensuring successful project completion within time, cost, and quality parameters. Key responsibilities include controlling project progression, preparing construction programmes, managing budgets, implementing quality assurance plans, overseeing health & safety compliance, and mentoring junior colleagues. The role also involves assisting the Pre-Contract Department with bids and contributing to future business growth.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead construction teams to deliver outstanding service and high-quality projects within tight deadlines

• Develop and monitor construction programmes using ASTA software

• Control site expenditure and manage variations effectively

• Identify, capture, and mitigate project risks

• Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and health & safety regulations

• Develop and implement site Health & Safety Plans

• Prepare accurate project progress reports for Directors and stakeholders

• Mentor junior team members and foster a positive working culture
