Design Manager

Description:

Omexom, a brand of VINCI Energies, is seeking an experienced Design Manager to lead engineering and design interfaces for major Transmission & Distribution projects. This role requires managing the design execution, ensuring compliance with regulations, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will oversee design scope allocation, ensure adherence to industry standards, and provide technical direction to project teams.

Key Responsibilities:

⚡ Oversee the execution of project designs, ensuring compliance with client specifications and internal management systems
⚡ Develop and implement the design section of the project execution plan
⚡ Ensure the design schedule is approved and understood by subcontractors and suppliers
⚡ Provide guidance to the commercial and cost management team regarding design-related risks
⚡ Build strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and internal partners
⚡ Analyze and report on design status, quality performance, costs, and schedules
⚡ Develop and maintain a project design risk register with mitigation strategies
⚡ Conduct weekly design interface meetings and attend monthly client progress meetings
⚡ Coordinate with Project Quality Manager to implement a design quality assurance program
⚡ Manage subcontractor and supplier claims, approvals, and final payments
⚡ Oversee the production of as-built drawings and manage contract closeout activities

Required Qualifications & Experience:

✅ Degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant professional qualification
✅ Minimum 6 years of design experience in the Electricity Supply industry
✅ Strong knowledge of electrical power engineering design principles
✅ Fully conversant with Transmission & Distribution standards and technologies
✅ Experience in LVAC and DC systems design for high-voltage substations
✅ Proficiency in numerical protection relay settings and configuration
✅ Knowledge of HV substation primary plant up to 400kV
✅ Understanding of HV substation/wind farm control systems, including IEC 61850 applications
✅ Strong grasp of Health & Safety regulations in HV substation design and operation
✅ Ability to lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams
