Fire Safety Compliance Officer

Description:

Mears Group PLC is seeking a dedicated Fire Safety Compliance Officer to join its Fire and Building Safety Team at Woodlands Business Park in Milton Keynes. This full-time, on-site role is essential in supporting fire safety compliance within Mears’ housing portfolio. Reporting to the Head of Fire and Building Safety, the officer will ensure Fire Risk Assessments (FRAs) are accurately reviewed, remedial actions are completed, and all measures adhere to fire safety regulations.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating with internal branches, operational managers, and subcontractors to ensure high standards of fire safety across the housing stock. This role combines technical knowledge, compliance oversight, and collaborative project coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review completed FRAs for compliance and accuracy.

• Monitor and oversee completion of remedial actions.

• Conduct quality assurance of FRA outputs from both internal and external assessors.

• Coordinate fire safety remedial work with internal and external teams.

• Maintain detailed records and generate compliance reports for leadership.

• Act as a point of contact for fire safety compliance concerns.

• Ensure adherence to regulations including RRFSO 2005, Fire Safety Act 2021, and the Building Safety Act.

• Promote continuous improvement and assist in audits and inspections.

• Provide training and awareness sessions to internal teams and subcontractors.

Key Criteria:

• NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate or equivalent.

• Solid understanding of fire safety legislation.

• Demonstrated ability to manage FRA reviews and compliance tracking.

• Background in housing or property management is preferred.

• Effective communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.

• Valid UK driving license.

• Good standard of education including English and Maths.
