Freelance Tutor

Description:

MediaAcademyCymru (MAC) in Cardiff is actively recruiting freelance tutors, teachers, and youth workers to join their dynamic creative education and training team. This is a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the lives of post-16 learners by delivering BTEC Level 1–3 Creative Media courses with an emphasis on inclusion, hands-on learning, and wellbeing.

The ideal candidates will be creative professionals or educators with expertise in filmmaking, photography, or digital media, and a passion for inclusive, empathetic teaching.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver engaging and practical lessons across various creative disciplines such as film, media, and photography.

• Plan, assess, and verify coursework aligned with BTEC Creative Media qualifications.

• Conduct regular wellbeing check-ins with learners to support their mental and emotional development.

• Facilitate extracurricular learning and enrichment opportunities.

• Deliver and assess Essential Skills Wales qualifications.

Key Requirements:

• Proven experience working with young people in teaching, youth work, or mentoring roles.

• Strong commitment to inclusive education and supporting learners with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).

• Flexibility to work 3–5 days per week as a freelancer.

• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

• Mental Health First Aid qualification is desirable but not essential.

• Creative industry experience or teaching credentials in media arts will be highly valued.
