IT Operations Engineer
Key Responsibilities
- Infrastructure & System Management:
- Deploy and manage endpoint security solutions, including application control and advanced threat protection systems.
- Administer and support the Microsoft 365 environment, including Entra ID, Exchange Online, and Teams. Manage enterprise applications, configure SSO/SAML integrations, and ensure secure identity and access management across services.
- Implement and maintain remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools.
- Support and maintain virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) environments (e.g., Citrix, AWS, AVD, VMware Horizon).
- Manage and troubleshoot network and firewall changes to maintain optimal connectivity and security.
- Maintain and support Windows Server infrastructure, including Active Directory, DNS, and Group Policy. Ensure system reliability, security, and performance across on-premises and hybrid environments.
- Automate tasks using PowerShell.
- Project & Migration Support:
- Assist with various IT-related projects, including security software rollouts, data migrations, and system integrations.
- Participate in efforts to streamline and rationalize IT workloads, including physical hardware relocations and resource optimization.
- Collaborate with security and other IT teams to investigate alerts and support cross-departmental initiatives.
- Operational Support & Troubleshooting:
- Provide essential day-to-day end-user support, addressing IT issues and assisting users adapting to new systems and processes.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex issues involving new software integrations, identifying root causes, and implementing solutions.
- Manage and prioritize IT support tickets, addressing backlogged items and ensuring timely resolution of incidents and service requests.
- Perform regular vulnerability remediation and break/fix tasks to maintain system health and stability.
- Manage IT processes for starters and leavers, including imaging and configuring laptops, setting up or revoking access, and ensuring all necessary equipment is issued or returned in line with company standards.
- Track and manage IT hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle using asset management tools.
- Documentation & Best Practices:
- Document IT procedures, configurations, and troubleshooting steps to enhance knowledge transfer and operational consistency.
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices to recommend continuous improvements to our IT environment.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience in IT operations, system administration, or a similar role.
- Ability to obtain UK Government Security Clearance
- Strong understanding of endpoint management, network infrastructure, and security principles.
- Experience with various IT tools, including RMM platforms, endpoint detection and response (EDR) solutions, and identity management systems.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely resolutions.
- Adaptability to new technologies and changing environments.
- Curiosity and a drive to learn and improve.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on clear and helpful user interactions.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
