- Manage the Azure environment and Microsoft 365 E5 estate, including identity, device management, and conditional access.
- Define and enforce access control standards, privileged access models, and device configuration policies.
- Line manage and develop the IT Technician/Apprentice, building internal capability through documentation and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation of all systems, infrastructure, and environment architecture.
- Report to the IT Controller and Board on system status, risks, and improvement priorities.
Below is a list of Key Skills required for a IT Systems Cyber and Infrastructure Lead, however you will not be expected to have everything:
- Senior-level hands-on experience across IT infrastructure, systems, and networking in a technical organisation.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft 365 E5, including identity, endpoint management, and conditional access.
- Experience managing Azure cloud environments with a structured approach to access, policy, and connectivity.
- Hands-on experience with Fortinet network infrastructure including firewalls, switching, and VPN.
- Practical knowledge of cyber security frameworks including Cyber Essentials Plus, IASME, and ISO27001-aligned practices.
- Ability to define and maintain identity and access models, privileged access controls, and device configuration standards.
- Experience producing clear technical documentation for systems, infrastructure, and network architecture.
- Comfortable working across both corporate and project/development IT environments with appropriate separation and control.
The client would also like to see some of the below, but this is not essential:
- Experience working with or supporting Windows and Linux-based development environments.
- Familiarity with the UK Government Cyber Security Model (CSM).
- Exposure to AI/ML or high-performance computing environments and their integration into wider IT estates.
- A recognised cyber security certification such as CISSP, CompTIA Security+, or equivalent.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Experience in an SME or R&D-focused technical organisation where you've had to wear multiple hats.
