Lead Commissioning Engineer

Description:

Morgan Sindall is seeking a Lead Commissioning Engineer – Control Systems to play a pivotal role in a major project, supporting the commissioning team across all phases from design through testing to handover. This is a leadership-focused position involving coordination, documentation, fault resolution, and delivery assurance for control system solutions in nuclear and defence infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the production and review of LifeTime Records (LTR) and commissioning documentation.

• Provide assurance across the control systems lifecycle from design to integrated works testing and final client acceptance.

• Understand and interpret a wide range of documentation including user requirements, validation plans, functional specifications, and system definitions.

• Supervise and participate in on-site and off-site commissioning activities.

• Approve and implement minor system modifications to support testing and commissioning.

• Drive configuration management and change control.

• Provide breakdown support and ensure timely recovery operations.

• Support the Commissioning Section Leader with the successful delivery of plant control systems.

Essential Skills and Requirements:

• Solid knowledge of PLC and SCADA systems.

• Proven experience in testing, delivery, and commissioning in operational environments.

• Ability to work independently and lead teams.

• Willingness to travel and work off-site when needed.

• Evidence of qualification or equivalent practical experience.

Desirable Skills:

• HNC/Level 4 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline.

• Previous experience in large-scale nuclear sector projects.

• Familiarity with setting up and testing new systems.
