Description:
Newcastle Research & Innovation Institute in Singapore (NewRIIS) is seeking a Lecturer in Biostatistics to join the Biostatistics Research Group (BRG) at Newcastle University. The role involves applying innovative statistical methodology to clinical trials, contributing to high-quality research, and expanding the BRG through teaching, supervision, and collaborative research activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct independent and team-based biostatistical research, developing and applying innovative methodologies.
Publish research findings in high-quality, peer-reviewed journals.
Present research at national and international conferences.
Attract and manage research funding from external sources.
Collaborate on new and ongoing clinical trials projects, including design, conduct, and analysis.
Provide statistical advice via the NIHR Research Support Service.
Lead and contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate courses in statistics and data science.
Supervise undergraduate, postgraduate, and PhD research projects.
Strengthen the BRG’s national and international profile through collaborations and conferences.
Candidate Requirements:
Formal postgraduate qualification in statistics (MSc or PhD) or equivalent research-based expertise.
PhD in a relevant discipline is required.
Track record of publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.
Expertise in clinical trial design and analysis, with potential to act as senior trial statistician.
Experience in teaching statistics in an accessible way.
Experience supervising PhD students or research staff.
Ability to collaborate successfully with multidisciplinary teams.
Desirable:
Experience in statistical methodology research with publications in high-ranking journals.
Ability to develop innovative approaches to clinical trial design and analysis.
