Marine Data Analyst

Description:

As our Marine Data Analyst (MDE Heritage Accelerator), you will transform detailed heritage data generated by marine development into consistent, accessible spatial information within the Marine Data Exchange (MDE) and the Marine Historic Environment Record (MHER). You will help deliver the objectives of the MDE Heritage Accelerator project, which is a major innovative project funded through The Crown Estate’s Offshore Wind Evidence & Change (OWEC) programme. You will encompass processing, recording, enhancing and analysing geospatial information derived from seabed surveys to create accessible heritage information.

Who we are looking for

• Demonstrable experience of working with marine or heritage data in a professional context, including large datasets
• Advanced skills in using databases, spreadsheets and GIS
• Good working knowledge of coding languages, such as R or Python
• Familiarity with Feature Manipulation Engine software (FME)
• Good working knowledge of seabed survey systems commonly used in UK marine heritage, including their resulting data and its processing and interpretation
• Clear familiarity with UK frameworks, standards and lexicons used in processing, interpreting and recording marine data, heritage assets, interventions and sources
• Diligent attention to detail and accuracy
