Description:

Palmer Sport, a leading motorsport experience provider based at Bedford Autodrome, is seeking a versatile and hardworking Mechanic to join its Engineering team. This is a hands-on, full-time on-site role ideal for individuals with a strong mechanical background, a proactive work ethic, and a passion for high-performance automotive engineering. You will play a pivotal role in maintaining and preparing PalmerSport’s elite fleet of performance and race vehicles for world-class motorsport events.

This role offers the chance to work with a range of vehicles, including McLaren Artura GT4s, Formula 3000 single-seaters, Ginetta G56s, bespoke JP-LMs, and Caterhams, as well as event support and maintenance vehicles. It presents a unique opportunity to be part of a tight-knit, professional team in a stable, location-based motorsport role—ideal for experienced mechanics seeking consistency without the demands of constant travel.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and prepare PalmerSport’s diverse fleet of high-performance vehicles to the highest safety and performance standards

  • Conduct detailed inspections after corporate and retail events

  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues in collaboration with the Engineering team

  • Complete job cards accurately to record vehicle service and repair history

  • Communicate effectively with the Workshop Supervisor for diagnosis and parts procurement

  • Perform diagnostic testing on both mechanical and electrical vehicle systems


Candidate Requirements:

Essential:

  • Recognised qualification in mechanical engineering (e.g., City and Guilds or equivalent)

  • Solid mechanical understanding and hands-on experience

  • Previous experience with race-spec or high-performance vehicles

  • Full UK driving licence

  • Commitment to flexible work hours including evenings and weekends

  • Attention to detail and pride in completing tasks to a high standard

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and work efficiently under pressure

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in a race team or car preparation setting

  • Electrical systems diagnosis capabilities
