Operations Manager

Wilderness Way is on a mission to transform children’s residential care through innovation, compassion, and leadership. As the Operations Manager, you will oversee a cluster of children’s homes, supporting Registered Service Managers to deliver outstanding care and empower teams. This role offers an opportunity to lead in a pioneering multi-building children’s home model—the first of its kind in England.

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspiring Leadership: Mentor and support Registered Managers, fostering a culture of excellence and care.
• Service Oversight: Ensure the highest standards of care, while achieving financial and operational targets.
• Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with Commissioning, Placements Partners, and external agencies to tailor care to children’s needs.
• Performance Management: Monitor and report service performance, identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Team Development: Coach managers to uphold the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Values while ensuring a child-first focus.

Required Qualifications & Skills:

✅ Experience:

• 6+ years of experience in children’s residential care, working with challenging behaviours.
• 4+ years in leadership roles within the social care sector.

✅ Education & Certification:

• Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care & Children and Young People’s Services.

✅ Regulatory & Compliance Expertise:

• Strong knowledge of Ofsted regulations, safeguarding policies, and child protection legislation.
• Proven ability to manage budgets, implement policies, and drive operational success.

✅ Soft Skills & Professional Attributes:

• Inspirational leadership with a passion for mentoring and team development.
• Collaborative and adaptable approach to problem-solving.
• Strong empathy and child-focused mindset.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.

✅ Additional Requirements:

• Full UK driving licence with the ability to travel across multiple services.
• Flexibility to adapt to occasional out-of-hours needs.
