Outdoor Work Assistant

Description:

Bedales School is seeking a dedicated and proactive Outdoor Work Assistant to join its unique department focused on animal husbandry, gardening, land management, craft, and cookery. This role involves supporting a variety of engaging activities, such as pizza making, wool craft, willow weaving, and chutney preparation using school-grown produce.

The assistant will ensure lessons are effectively delivered by preparing, maintaining, and cleaning materials, ingredients, and learning spaces. The role requires working both indoors and outdoors throughout the academic year, primarily based in the school's Bakehouse.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ordering and managing food, materials, and equipment
• Running the Outdoor Work (ODW) shop
• Setting up and clearing classrooms before and after lessons
• Assisting teachers during lessons

Working Hours:

• 32 hours per week, Monday to Friday during term time (33 weeks per year)
• An additional 32 hours during school holidays (schedule agreed in advance)
• Work hours cover 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM, but specific shifts may vary
• Occasional Saturday work for special events such as Parents’ Day
