Crown House Technologies (CHt), a part of the Laing O’Rourke Group, is seeking a highly skilled Passive Fire Protection (PFP) Technical Lead to join its dynamic engineering team. This role offers a remarkable opportunity to lead the fire safety engineering function across some of the UK’s most prestigious and technically advanced construction projects.
The selected candidate will take ownership of PFP strategies across design, engineering, and construction phases, ensuring robust fire protection integration that upholds safety, compliance, and quality standards. The position involves both strategic oversight and hands-on technical engagement, providing a platform for growth within one of the UK’s most innovative engineering organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
General Responsibilities:
Lead Passive Fire Protection (PFP) strategy implementation across multiple projects, ensuring compliance with design intent and fire strategies.
Oversee PFP for service penetrations and building fabric, ensuring safety and quality benchmarks are consistently met.
Contribute to project risk and opportunity registers, identifying areas for improvement or innovation.
Promote knowledge sharing across multidisciplinary teams, enhancing organizational capability in fire protection.
Ensure all PFP systems meet mandatory UK building and fire safety regulations.
Design Responsibilities:
Facilitate and oversee the development of standardized PFP solutions during the design phase.
Coordinate closely with design teams to ensure alignment between architecture, structure, and MEP systems.
Review test data, fire resistance documentation, and technical specifications for compliance and adequacy.
Select and manage appropriate PFP components and maintain technical documentation.
Delivery Responsibilities:
Collaborate with project delivery teams to identify and mitigate fire protection risks.
Manage inspection and assurance processes to confirm PFP installation quality.
Ensure project teams conduct robust quality checks throughout construction and installation phases.
Oversee project handover, ensuring complete and compliant PFP documentation for client assurance.
Candidate Profile:
Technically minded with a strong focus on quality and safety.
Background in architecture, structural engineering, MEP services, or construction with an understanding of material behavior in fire conditions.
Keen interest in fire engineering and commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
