Pedestrian Modeller

Description:

Mott MacDonald, a global engineering, management, and development consultancy, is seeking a Pedestrian Modeller / Senior Pedestrian Modeller to join its established Crowd Flow and Visualisation team. This role involves developing, applying, and managing pedestrian models to support transport, infrastructure, and urban planning projects worldwide.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, run, and report on dynamic pedestrian simulations using Legion, Viswalk, CAST, and STEPS software, as well as conduct static analysis.

• Lead and manage tasks including survey programmes, model calibration, validation, demand forecasting, and appraisal.

• Review and approve model outputs to ensure compliance with industry best practices and project quality standards.

• Mentor and train early career professionals to strengthen team capability.

• Engage with clients, stakeholders, and project teams to deliver innovative pedestrian modelling solutions.

• Contribute to business development initiatives, including proposal writing and client engagement.

Candidate Profile:

• At least 3 years of hands-on experience using Legion, Viswalk, or CAST.

• Demonstrated ability to develop pedestrian models from first principles.

• Proficiency in pedestrian flow survey design, management, and data analysis.

• UK project experience essential; international project experience desirable.

• Desirable: project management experience (commercial and programme management), mentoring background, or involvement in professional institutions (e.g., CIHT, ICE, IET).

• Working toward professional qualifications such as EngTech, IEng, CEng, or CTPP is advantageous.
