Quality Engineer

Description:

The SPTS division of KLA, a global leader in wafer processing solutions for the semiconductor and related industries, is seeking a Quality Engineer to join their Newport facility. The successful candidate will take ownership of supplier and customer-facing quality issues, performing root cause analysis (RCA) and implementing corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to enhance manufacturing efficiency and minimize the impact of supplier issues. You will work closely with Product Development, Manufacturing, and Service teams to provide technical guidance, implement improvements, and ensure continuous quality enhancement.

Key responsibilities include:

• Investigating and analysing customer-reported field issues, manufacturing defects, failures, and performance concerns.

• Performing RCA and collaborating with engineering/product teams to implement corrective actions.

• Collecting, analysing, and interpreting data from customer feedback, field reports, and test results.

• Developing detailed reports on trends, recurring issues, and resolutions.

• Leading or participating in process mapping exercises and internal/supplier audits.

• Maintaining detailed quality documentation adhering to standards and regulatory requirements.

• Communicating clearly with customers and internal teams regarding issues, progress, and resolutions.

• Driving continuous improvement initiatives to reduce future issues and enhance product quality.

Candidate Requirements:

• Degree in an engineering or manufacturing subject (or equivalent experience).

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

• Ability to work effectively within diverse teams.

• Familiarity with ISO9001:2015 standards.

• Experience in ERP/MES systems and process mapping.

• Ideally Six Sigma Green Belt qualified.

• Knowledge of 8D, Lean, 5 Why’s, Pareto Analysis, FMEA methods desirable.
