Senior Civil Structural Engineer

Fyba Talent is hiring a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join a leading Tier 1 contractor’s expanding water infrastructure team, based in either Warrington or Bristol. This is a remarkable opportunity to work with one of the UK's most respected civil engineering organizations with a strong pipeline of essential water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

In this hybrid role, you will be a pivotal member of the structural design team, providing high-quality, technically sound engineering solutions. You will contribute to early-stage design, develop detailed structural specifications, and mentor junior engineers, all while collaborating across multiple disciplines and supporting site operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver detailed structural designs for water and wastewater projects, especially reinforced concrete and steel structures for both above and below ground applications.

• Prepare design documentation including calculations, reports, and drawings during early and detailed design phases.

• Assess and modify existing infrastructure, including treatment plants and reservoirs.

• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.

• Ensure designs meet regulatory compliance, safety standards, and sustainability principles.

• Provide input in project planning, procurement, and scheduling.

• Engage with contractors and project managers to facilitate smooth execution from design to implementation.

• Perform site visits, structural assessments, and prepare corresponding reports.

• Review third-party calculations and submissions for structural integrity and compliance.

• Embrace and promote carbon-efficient and innovative design solutions.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in structural engineering; water sector experience preferred.

• Proficient in reinforced concrete and steel design; knowledge of Eurocode 2 (BS EN 1992) essential.

• Familiarity with tools such as STAAD.Pro, Strand7, TEKLA TEDDS, or equivalent.

• Strong technical reporting and analytical abilities.

• Previous experience with major UK water clients (e.g., Severn Trent, Thames Water) is an advantage.

• Effective collaborator with excellent communication and mentoring skills.

• Ability to manage site-related activities and design responsibilities across all project stages.
